Alexa does not find Loxone devices: causes and fixes

If Alexa finds nothing after “Alexa, suche nach neuen Geräten” (search for new devices), or a Loxone device does not respond, it is almost always down to one of a few points. Go through them in order.
Alexa finds no devices
- Is the Miniserver connected? Check in MFM Voice whether your Miniserver is shown as connected.
- Are devices shared? Alexa only sees devices that you have shared for Alexa in MFM Voice.
- Is your access active? After the trial, Alexa only responds with an active subscription.
- Is the skill linked? In the Alexa app, the “MFM Voice” skill must be enabled and linked to your MFM Voice account.
- A little patience: device discovery takes up to 45 seconds.
The skill cannot be found
Check that the Alexa app is signed in with a German Amazon account (amazon.de) and that Alexa is set to German. Search for “MFM Voice” with a space.
A device does not respond
Check that the Miniserver is online and reachable via Loxone remote access, and that your subscription is active. If a device does not behave as expected after a change, delete it in the Alexa app and let Alexa search again.
Alexa switches the wrong device
This is almost always down to the name. Two similar names, or a name that Alexa hears differently, lead to mix-ups. Five rules for good names are in the guide Alexa does not understand a device.
Signing in does not work
- “Invalid login details”: use the email and password of MFM Voice, not those of Amazon or Loxone.
- “Please confirm your email address first”: click the link in the confirmation email and also check your spam folder.
