# Set up Loxone with Alexa – step by step

You create an MFM Voice account, connect your Miniserver, enable the “MFM Voice” skill in the Alexa app and let Alexa search for devices. This guide takes you through each step.

## The steps

### 1\. [Create an account](https://mfm-voice.com/en/setup#account)

Register with your email address and a password. You will receive an email with a confirmation link. You can only sign in after clicking it.

### 2\. [Create a user in the Miniserver (recommended)](https://mfm-voice.com/en/setup#user)

In Loxone Config, create a separate user for MFM Voice. Give it access only to the rooms and functions that Alexa should control.

### 3\. [Connect the Miniserver](https://mfm-voice.com/en/setup#miniserver)

In MFM Voice, enter the remote access address of your Miniserver along with the user name and password. MFM Voice then reads your rooms and devices. Your 14 trial days start with this step.

### 4\. [Select and name devices](https://mfm-voice.com/en/setup#devices)

Tick the devices Alexa may control. Give each device a name you are happy to say out loud: “Esstisch” (dining table) rather than “LI EG 03”.

### 5\. [Enable the skill](https://mfm-voice.com/en/setup#skill)

Open the Alexa app. Tap “Mehr” (More), then “Skills und Spiele” (Skills & Games). Search for “MFM Voice” and tap “Zur Verwendung aktivieren” (Enable to use).

The MFM Voice sign-in page opens. Sign in with your MFM Voice login details – not those from Amazon or Loxone.

### 7\. [Search for devices](https://mfm-voice.com/en/setup#discover)

Tap “Geräte erkennen” (Discover devices) or say: “Alexa, suche nach neuen Geräten.” (Search for new devices.) The search takes up to 45 seconds.

### 8\. [Say your first command](https://mfm-voice.com/en/setup#test)

Say, for example: “Alexa, schalte das Wohnzimmerlicht ein.” (Turn on the living room light.)

The Alexa skill currently works in German and needs an amazon.de account. Voice commands are therefore shown in German, with an English explanation.

## If something does not work

**Common messages and how to solve them**

| Message or problem                                                                          | Solution                                                                                                                    |

| “Ungültige Anmeldedaten” (Invalid login details)                                            | Use the email and password for MFM Voice, not those for Amazon or Loxone.                                                   |
| “Bitte bestätigen Sie zuerst Ihre E-Mail-Adresse” (Please confirm your email address first) | Click the link in the confirmation email. Check your spam folder too.                                                       |
| The skill cannot be found                                                                   | Check that the Alexa app is signed in with a German Amazon account (amazon.de). Search for “MFM Voice” with a space.        |
| Alexa finds no devices                                                                      | Check in MFM Voice: Is the Miniserver connected? Are devices allowed? Is your access active?                                |
| A device “reagiert nicht” (is not responding)                                               | Check whether the Miniserver is online and reachable through Loxone remote access, and whether your subscription is active. |
