With MFM Voice, Alexa reads out values from your Loxone Miniserver, for example from energy meters, storage, wallbox or Energy Flow Monitor. That way you can ask for PV output, today’s yield, the charge level of your battery storage or self-sufficiency without opening an app.

The MFM Voice skill currently only works with an amazon.de account and Alexa set to German, so voice commands are shown in German with an English gloss in brackets.

## The phrases that work

Alexa understands queries for values in a fixed form: “Alexa, wie ist der … vom …?” (What is the … of the …?) For example:

- “Alexa, wie ist der Ladestand vom Batteriespeicher?” (What is the charge level of the battery storage?)
- “Alexa, wie ist die Leistung der PV Anlage?” (What is the output of the PV system?)
- “Alexa, wie ist der Ertrag heute von der PV Anlage?” (What is today’s yield from the PV system?)
- “Alexa, wie ist die Autarkie vom Haus?” (What is the self-sufficiency of the house?)

The first part is the name of the value, the second the name of the device, both as they appear in MFM Voice. Other forms such as “Wie groß ist …” (How big is …) or “… am Speicher” (… at the storage) are not understood for such values, and Alexa then does not ask your Miniserver at all.

## What Alexa does differently

- **No unit:** Alexa says the number but not “kilowatts” or “per cent”. Remember which unit a value has in Loxone.
- **Decimals:** Alexa speaks the decimal point, as in “1 Punkt 3”. Whole numbers sound cleaner.
- **The value name comes back:** in its answer, Alexa repeats the value name you said.

## Free questions with routines

If you would rather say something like “Alexa, wie voll ist die Batterie?” (How full is the battery?), create a routine in the Alexa app: your own sentence then triggers the query. How that works is explained in [Alexa routines with Loxone devices](https://mfm-voice.com/en/guides/alexa-routines-with-loxone-devices).

## Setup

In MFM Voice, share the energy function blocks that Alexa should read out and give them short names that are easy to say, such as “PV Anlage” or “Batteriespeicher”. Then: “Alexa, suche nach neuen Geräten.” (Search for new devices.) All supported function blocks are on the [Features](https://mfm-voice.com/en/features) page, more phrases under [Voice commands](https://mfm-voice.com/en/voice-commands).
